Twin Peaks made such an impression on me as a bored suburban teenager. It’s so full of mystery and brilliant Lynch weirdness. I love Badalamenti’s soundtrack – it’s all kinds of amazing bittersweet melancholy and this short video about the creative process is just great.
Hannah is incredible. Her story needs to be heard.
I love abstract moving image and op art. To think that Fischinger made this visualisation of Liszt’s 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody in 1938 (1938!), before the advent of computers is frankly staggering.
The ZX Spectrum is pretty much *the* object of my childhood. It opened my eyes to the creativity of computers and playing games at home. I loved Jetpac. Watching it load here is a reminder of how things were and how much technology has moved on.
I’m a fairly mediocre animator and really want to learn to be better. This video based on the 12 basic principles of animation by old school Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas is great. It shows that just about anything can be imbued with life through strong animation.
Com Truise is brilliant. I’m a big fan of his and a lot of other synthwave stuff. I particularly dig this tune and the video’s kind of ridiculous Ex Machina, Black Mirror vibes.
