Video playlists from the most interesting people in the creative industries. We are the Desert Island Discs of internet video.

Nicole Licht

Nicole Licht is an artist turned art director and designer. Based out of Brooklyn, New York, she makes up ½ of Party of One Studio, a creative collaboration with one of our first (and favourite) contributors, designer Melissa Deckert. She’s interested in the tension between work and play in the creative practice, handmade props and sets, and non-linear storytelling. Nicole studied at the Cooper Union & showed at Aaron Rose’s Alleged Gallery throughout the 1990s.

Acne Studios | “The Underwear Memos”, Directed by Ryan McGinley 2 Minutes

I’m always excited when an artist is given free reign over the creative direction for a commercial project. I like that that these short videos by Ryan McGinley look and feel like Yearbook, the body of work he was showing around the same time. It is the contrasting, seemingly found audio that really gets me though, for this series of quick advertisements. I love it and have referenced the “Shut the Fukka Mukka” (Act IV) audio as perfect lead into a ‘why don’t we see how far we can go?’ conversation so many times.

Cachemonet 4 Minutes

I really don’t care that this is at least three years old because as the experimental group behind this would say, the internet blurs the lines of time. It is endless and randomized and thus hypnotic, I love this song too. Full website:

Dancing in the Street // Silent Music Video 3 Minutes

We all want a peek behind the curtain, even if it’s a fake one. The best.

Music Videos Without Music: We Can't Stop 4 Minutes

Maybe I just want all music videos to be without music? Just realizing now that I definitely have a thing for mouth sounds.

Don't Hug me I'm Scared 3 Minutes

A classic, a masterpiece – the handmade set, the puppets, the costumes, the twisted story. I still feel weird using green. Becky and Joe are my heroes.
