Agnes Martin – Road Trip 2 minutes

Agnes. After 12 years in London I sometimes think I'd like to move to the desert in search of silence too. I love her last line " Please turn me off"!

How Crayons Are Made – Sesame Street 2 minutes

Watching this back in the 1980s was the first time I realized everyday objects were made by a person, somewhere else, and had embarked on long journeys and invisible logistical forces before becoming a part of my life. There's something very magical about making something and sending it out into the world to travel from hand to hand to hand.

Ursula K. Le Guin: "We will need writers who can remember freedom" 6 minutes

Le Guin's badass acceptance speech for Lifetime Achievement at the National Book Awards in 2014. A spine tingling call for imagination, freedom and the collapse of capitalism: "We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings." Rest in power Ursula.

Booooooook – Hocus Pocus 1 minute

So many films come from books, but so few of them feature them. This one puts a book front and centre, and also prominently feature the moon and Bette, so it's a win-win-win.

David Attenborough – Bowerbirds 4 minutes

Lurking and pointing as only Attenborough can get away with, this video introduces us to the fascinating behaviour of the Australian bowerbird!

Bowerbirds are the only birds that build structures not for the purpose of nesting. Collecting and arranging sticks and brightly coloured objects they perform on a stage outside their bower in the hope of attracting a female (if their set up pleases them). After reading about them in Maggie Nelson's 'Bluets' and learning the other definitions of a bower ( i. A pleasant shady place under trees. ii. A woman’s private room) we adopted the name for our new project space in collaboration with Joyce Cronin - The Bower, Brunswick Park.

Dancing in the Kitchen – Mermaids 2 minutes

This film is about feminism, strength, beauty, and family, and the different ways that women define these words for themselves. There are crushes, a coming-of-age, a mermaid costume, and a feel good ending. Women doin' it for themselves. With a big bowl of Cheetos.
